Winterfield Farms’ News Flash
As the show season winds down for 2005, Winterfield Farms has many happy results to report but first the very sad news. On Oct 10, 2005 Winterfield lost their grand old sire WAR FLASH to circulatory complications of old age, at the age of 24. WAR FLASH came to Winterfield in May of 1983 and has given us many, many beautiful and talented youngsters over the years. He was the king of the valley and yet was loving, kind and wanted to be friends with everyone, equine and human. His legacy will be all of his sons and daughters who share his wonderful personality. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
On a brighter note, his 2 year old son IRISH FIDDLE and his grandson COCOPELLI by COCONUT GROVE and out of NO BODY’S FOOL by WAR FLASH have done extremely well in the Hunter breeding divisions. They are both West PA PHA champions and standing 6th in USEF zone 2 award points for each of their divisions.
Another 2 yr old son Scimatar, out of April (reg. Belgium) is going nicely under saddle and should make his debut in the under saddle classes shortly. He received lots of attention while attending a schooling show in Aug. He is 17.3H and still growing!
One of his older daughters, Tattersally has had a gorgeous colt by ALL THE GOLD. NO BODY’S FOOL has also had another foal by COCONUT GROVE for Athens. Cortland’s EVEN FLASHIER has returned to Winterfield after spending the summer in VA. and is starting a new career as a dressage horse. Newswatch and Lexy have been playing in the jumper ring this past summer as they broaden their horizons.
The Winterfield Farms, Inc. family has had several new additions over the past year. Amy has been training MOOSE TRACKS for the jumpers with great success, they were even champions at one show this year and many other ribbons. Lori and LERCH (age 28?) have enjoyed their time trail riding and enjoying nature. LERCH has gotten fat and shiny and seems very happy with his lighter duties. Laci has a new young TB, ISLAND BOY who will be showing in the jumpers very soon. Hanna and HOTT WINGS have done lots of showing and have had lots of ribbons and championships to prove it. When they couldn’t find Pony Jumper Classes, they just did the Childrens’ Jumpers- no problem! Unfortunately Hanna is getting too tall and HOTT WINGS is looking for a new pilot. ANNIE and Jamie are also have loads of fun with the Jumpers. The change of venue has made both of them happy. EXCLUSIVE EDITION and Angela have just returned from the Marshall & Sterling Finals at the Washington International. Even though they were not in the ribbons, it was a great experience. RIKKI and her new owner Alycia are getting to know each other and are almost ready to start jumping. WHIZ and Kristin are back for a visit to get ready for some fall and winter showing. ELLIE has returned to Winterfield for Hanna to ride in the jumpers.
Quote of the year:
"Rhythm and patience are necessary for all jumping."
